The co-owner of a Vancouver taco shop destroyed by an explosion last week has killed herself.

The body of Manjeet Kaur Nandha, 42, who lived in Surrey with her husband and three children, was found Friday in Howe Sound.

Police said Nandha's 1999 Nissan Pathfinder was nearby, between Furry Creek and Porteau Cove.

The Taco Del Mar at 686 West Broadway, which Nandha and her husband owned, was torched and blew up early last Wednesday, causing $2 million in damage to businesses in the block.

The Province interviewed Nandha last Wednesday night at the couple's other Taco Del Mar restaurant, off Scott Road in Surrey.

Nandha appeared very tired and concerned. She said her head "was spinning," and she believed police were blaming her and her husband for the explosion.

She was very interested in information The Province had about two taxis seized by police after the explosion and used by the suspected arsonist to travel from Vancouver to Surrey.

The suspect, who is in hospital with life-threatening burns to 40 per cent of his body, has not yet been interviewed or charged due to the seriousness of his injuries.

Sunny Singh, who owns a confectionary store alongside the Nandhas' Surrey franchise, said the taco shop's regulars walked into his store on Saturday morning to ask why the Taco Del Mar was closed.

"I called her husband [Harjit Singh Nandha] and he told me what happened - that she had died on Friday," said Singh.

"He was very upset.

"She was a very nice lady, a really hard worker."

The Nandhas' large home in Newton is up for sale.

Global TV reported last night that Nandha left a suicide note saying she took her life because she

couldn't bear the suspicion surrounding her family.
