CALGARY - The decapitated remains of a man found last month east of
Calgary have been identified as a 70-year-old who lived in the city's
southwest.
Pargat Singh Kahlon was identified through DNA
comparison, said the RCMP last Thursday. They released an image of the
victim in hopes it will generate tips from the public.
Pargat Kahlon was last seen at a northeast Calgary bank, said police.
Pargat Kahlon was last seen at a northeast Calgary bank, said police.
Police said Kahlon was last seen withdrawing money from a TD Bank machine in northeast Calgary on the afternoon of Feb. 12.
Six days later, Kahlon's frozen remains were found in an irrigation ditch near Chestermere, a town just east of Calgary.
The RCMP are not releasing a cause of death, but said last month that the remains went through a "high level of violence."
Police
have not recovered Kahlon's head and there was physical damage to the
back of his right hand, indicating there may have been a mark, scar or
tattoo.
RCMP Staff Sgt. Ken Foster said Thursday that police
don't know a lot about Kahlon, except that he was new to Calgary.
Kahlon lived in a small residence inside a Sikh temple in the city's
southwest.
